WES Families,
Today marks the end of the first quarter! Our staff work hard everyday to support student learning and growth. This fall, the NC Department of Public Instruction released student growth scores for the 2024-2025 school year. As a school, WES exceeded student growth expectations again! When compared to other WCPSS elementary schools, WES ranked: overall #3, science #6, and math #1! This is a great achievement for our students and staff!
There will be no school on Tuesday, November 4th for Election Day. Fall picture make-ups will be on Thursday, November 6th. Would you like the WES calendar synced with your calendar so you can keep up with all the important dates? The directions for doing this are here.
Government Issued ID Reminder
Please make sure you bring your government issued ID for signing into the building as a visitor/volunteer and when you are checking out students early. It is a requirement for the WCPSS’ visitor management system.

Storybook STEM Food Truck Challenge
In conjunction with the Book Fair and International Night, we are having a Storybook STEM Food Truck Challenge (click on the link for more details). Food trucks are due November 7th in the Media Center.

October Grade Level CLASS Contest! LAST DAY!
Join the PTA TODAY and help your child's class win a POPSICLE PARTY, EXTRA RECESS, and a GIFT CARD for their teacher! Please note: There is no obligation with your membership - it allows you to vote at PTA meetings and/or can simply serve as a donation to the school!
WES International Night - November 20th, 5:30pm - 7:30pm, Live Performances Beginning at 6:30pm!
International Night is back and moved to this fall on November 20th! This fun evening will celebrate the many countries represented at our school. The event will include tables and performances highlighting different countries, crafts, and more. We are asking families interested in participating to sign up at the links below. If you see a country is missing, please add it! Families will work together to set up their table that could include examples of traditional dress, items of cultural importance, food (pre-packaged), posterboard of photos/information, etc. Questions?
