December to Remember holiday dress-up days

We are getting into the holiday spirit and wanted to invite everyone to make the last 10 days of school “Merry and Bright” by dressing up. Please click HERE for the calendar if your student would like to participate! 

 

Monday 12/5- you are a gift- dress like a present or wear a bow/bow-tie

Tuesday 12/6- Mad about Plaid- sport you winter plaids

Wednesday 12/7- Candy Cane day- wear red and white

Thursday 12/8- Toasty Toes- wear your cozy socks

Friday 12/9- Sweating the holidays away- wear your favorite hoodie/sweats

Banks Road Trailblazers are World Record Breakers 

Coach Owens taught our students cup stacking skills in class, and they then had the opportunity to participate in a world record for the most people speed stacking in multiple locations at the same time. Click HERE for more information!

 

Reassignment update

For students proposed to be assigned from Banks Road to the new Hilltop Needmore Elementary:

• Current students rising into 4th or 5th grade are eligible to remain at their current school with transfer status (no transportation) through the end of 5th grade

• Rising kindergarten, 1st, 2nd or 3rd grade siblings of these students are eligible to join their older sibling with transfer status (no transportation) through the end of 5th grade

The stability transfer window will be open from November 25-December 12th. Details to apply for a stability transfer were emailed to all impacted families.

 

If your rising middle school student was reassigned from Herbert Akins to West Lake Middle School and you are interested in taking a tour of West Lake Middle School, they would be happy to set something up. They will have an official Open House during the second semester, however, as you are making a choice about the 26-27 school year, they would love to meet you.  Please reach out to Principal Shipp at wshipp@wcpss.net and learn about all the wonderful things happening at the Lake!

Actualización de reasignación

Para los estudiantes propuestos para ser asignados de Banks Road a la nueva escuela primaria Hilltop Needmore:

• Los estudiantes actuales que pasan al 4.º o 5.º grado son elegibles para permanecer en su escuela actual con estatus de transferencia (sin transporte) hasta el final del 5.º grado.

• Los hermanos de estos estudiantes que pasan al jardín de infantes, 1.er, 2.º o 3.er grado son elegibles para unirse a su hermano mayor con estado de transferencia (sin transporte) hasta el final del 5.º grado.

El periodo de solicitud de transferencia de estabilidad estará abierto del 25 de noviembre al 12 de diciembre. Se envió por correo electrónico a todas las familias afectadas la información para solicitarla.

 

Si su hijo/a de secundaria fue reasignado de Herbert Akins a la Escuela Secundaria West Lake y le interesa visitarla, con gusto organizarán una visita. Tendrán una jornada de puertas abiertas oficial durante el segundo semestre; sin embargo, como está decidiendo sobre el año escolar 2026-2027, les encantaría conocerlo.
