Happy Sunday Trailblazers, I hope that you all are staying safe and warm today! It was so good to see our students back in the building last week. At the writing of this newsletter (Friday) we know that more winter weather is headed our way, and we appreciate your patience and understanding as we navigate the WCPSS closures and delays.   

Remote Learning Plans

Kindergarten registration for the 2026-2027 school year

If your family has a rising Kindergartener (5 years old by August 31st), PLEASE click this link- https://www.wcpss.net/enroll to register as soon as possible. All planning for next year is dependent upon the number of students enrolled at our school. Track out reading challenge

The Trailblazer Track-Out Reading Challenge is due this week! All students should return their track-out reading challenge paper to Ms. Lumb by Friday, January 30th.

 

All students who complete and return the challenge paper will be invited to a fun “Bookworm Bites” breakfast event in the library. Students can drop in for some morning snacks during arrivals from 8:45 to 9:30 AM. All students will be sent back to class at 9:30. Deacon the therapy dog will also be there so students can visit and read to him.

Kindergarten - 2nd grade on Tuesday, February 3rd

3rd through 5th grade on Wednesday, February 4th

AiG Testing Opportunity

The nomination window for 4th and 5th grade students for AIG testing will open soon.  We are accepting parent nominations until January 30, 2026.  Testing will begin on February 4, 2026 and will consist of the CogAT and IOWA.  We are looking for 95% or higher to qualify for AIG services in math and reading.  Please look at your child's CogAT, IOWA,  EOG, BOG scores and any other data from last year to make a nomination.  Be sure you ask your child's teacher if this type of differentiation is appropriate. We will meet with our committee to go over all of the nominations and decide if this type of testing is appropriate for your child.   Please email cviverette@wcpss.net for questions and to request a nomination form.  

Single Subject Acceleration testing

The Single Subject Acceleration testing windows are about to open for all students interested in this type of advancement.  Please contact Cammie Viverette for questions cviverette@wcpss.net. Single Subject Acceleration (SSA) is an acceleration opportunity available to enrolled and attending students in the Wake County Public School System (WCPSS).  As outlined in Board Policy 3422, K-8th-grade students who meet specific criteria in Mathematics or English Language Arts (ELA) have the opportunity to accelerate in one subject area.  Only students who are currently enrolled and attending a WCPSS school during the open nomination and testing window are eligible for consideration for SSA.

Desafío de lectura de seguimiento

¡El reto de lectura de Trailblazer Track-Out vence esta semana! Todos los estudiantes deben entregar su prueba de lectura a la Sra. Lumb antes del viernes 30 de enero.

 

Todos los estudiantes que completen y entreguen el cuestionario serán invitados a un divertido desayuno "Bocadillos de Ratón de Biblioteca" en la biblioteca. Podrán disfrutar de un refrigerio matutino durante la llegada, de 8:45 a 9:30 a. m. Todos los estudiantes regresarán a clase a las 9:30 a. m. Deacon, el perro de terapia, también estará presente para que los estudiantes puedan visitarlo y leerle.

Jardín de infantes - 2do grado el martes 3 de febrero

Oportunidad de prueba de AiG

El plazo de nominación para estudiantes de 4.º y 5.º grado para las pruebas AIG se abrirá pronto. Aceptamos nominaciones de padres hasta el 30 de enero de 2026. Las pruebas comenzarán el 4 de febrero de 2026 y consistirán en las pruebas CogAT e IOWA. Buscamos un 95 % o más para calificar para los servicios AIG en matemáticas y lectura. Por favor, revise las puntuaciones de su hijo/a en las pruebas CogAT, IOWA, EOG, BOG y cualquier otra información del año pasado para presentar una nominación. Las fechas de las pruebas de Aceleración de Asignaturas Únicas están a punto de abrirse para todos los estudiantes interesados ​​en este tipo de avance.
