Teacher of the Year – 2025–2026
Please join me in congratulating Mr. Hewitt, our 2nd grade teacher, as the Wiley Elementary 2025–2026 Teacher of the Year! Mr. Hewitt has been a valued member of the Wiley family for nearly ten years, where he has built strong relationships and provided exceptional instruction to our students. Last year, he was honored as a WRAL Teacher of the Week, and this year he was selected by his colleagues to serve as the Grade Level Representative. His dedication to students, collaboration with peers, and commitment to excellence make him truly deserving of this honor. If you see Mr. Hewitt in the hallway or out in the community, please be sure to congratulate him on this well-earned accomplishment!
Congratulations, Mr. Hewitt!
Welcome Back to Wiley – Ms. Jessica Kohli
Please join me in welcoming Ms. Jessica Kholi to the 2nd and 3rd grade team as our new Instructional Assistant. Ms. Kohli previously served as a 1st grade instructional assistant at Wiley and has decided to return to support our students in 2nd and 3rd grade. She is a valued member of the Wiley community, and we are thrilled to have her back where she belongs. Her experience, dedication, and care for students will be a wonderful asset to our school.
Welcome back, Ms. Kohli!
Set spending limits on MySchoolBucks
As a reminder, families can set daily or weekly spending limits or turn off à la carte snack purchases entirely through your MySchoolBucks account. This feature gives you greater control over cafeteria spending while still allowing students to purchase full meals. We encourage families to review and update their settings as needed
Yearbook Retake Day
A photographer from Strawbridge Studios will be on campus on December 10, 2025 to take Fall Retake pictures. Families may sign up to receive email updates about their child’s school portraits, including when images are ready for online viewing and when special products or promotions become available. When entering student information, please be sure to use the student’s name exactly as it appears in school records.
Need to order pictures? Strawbridge’s NEW Code Lookup Tool makes it easy! Families can scan the QR code and follow the directions to access their child’s photo gallery—no need to contact customer service for an access code. For data security, the student’s last name and student ID number will be required.
Connect withTalkingPoints
Connect with classroom teachers via TalkingPoints. TalkingPoints allows teachers to communicate with parents via text messages easily, including parents who speak languages other than English. TalkingPoints is a two-way, multi-lingual platform that allows teachers and parents to communicate in over 100 languages. Teachers use a web or mobile application to send messages to parents who receive them in their home languages as text messages or through the parent mobile app. Parents can reply in their own languages because TalkingPoints will automatically translate it to English for teachers. The software will sync directly to parent contact information in our student information system, Infinite Campus.

Interested in the app? Get started here.

Learn more about shared messaging for families. - This may be necessary if both parents are not receiving talking points.
Family Resource Support
We want to ensure our families are supported with resources in our community. If your family has a need in an area, please complete the form linked here: Family Resource Form.
Based on your responses, we may need to gather additional details to best accommodate your needs. For specific or immediate concerns, please reach out directly to school administration, your child’s homeroom teacher, or our new social worker, Jane Hartley (jehartley@wcpss.net).
We are here to partner with you and connect you to the resources you need.
Arrival & Dismissal Safety Reminder
The safety of our students and families during arrival and dismissal is our top priority. We ask that all families be mindful of pedestrians and traffic patterns when arriving and leaving school.
As a reminder:
Families should wait at the top of the parking lot until 8:45 AM for arrival and 3:30 PM for dismissal before entering. This allows others to safely enter and exit the parking lot before carpool begins and ends.
Walker families are encouraged to use the carpool line if parking is unavailable or if parking rules cannot be followed. Please also be mindful not to block neighborhood driveways.
Thank you for your cooperation in helping us keep everyone safe.
Teacher Shout Out
This year we want to share and shout out all the amazing things that Wiley teachers are doing for your students. If you have an amazing story to share or just want to tell a teacher how much you appreciate all they do, use this link: Comments will be shared with the teacher and the Wiley staff.
Wiley PTA
Holiday Teacher & Staff Gifting Is Almost Here!
Wiley PTA is excited to bring back GiftCrowd for our annual holiday gifting! Every member of our wonderful Wiley staff will be included—teachers, IAs, office staff, our band director, bus drivers, our crossing guard, and more.
New to GiftCrowd?
It’s a simple online platform where families can contribute any amount toward a shared gift for each staff member. Instead of bringing in individual gifts, all contributions are pooled together, and each teacher and staff member receives one meaningful gift card of their choice. It’s an easy and thoughtful way for families to show appreciation to the entire Wiley School team.
More details and the donation link will be shared soon—stay tuned!

Grounds Volunteers Needed
Calling All High Schoolers: Help Wiley and Earn Service Hours
Do you have a high schooler or know one in need of service hours? Wiley PTA is launching a Junior Sustainability Committee this spring! We’re inviting high school students to help with grounds work at Wiley every weekend in April and early May, with two-hour volunteer shifts available. It’s a great way for older students to give back to their elementary roots—plus it helps keep our campus looking beautiful for our Wiley students!
