Monday, February, 16 - Calendar Update

Please note that Monday, February 16 is now a regular school day. Due to last week’s inclement weather and teacher workday, the district has adjusted the calendar and we will operate on a normal school schedule this Monday.

We will conduct business as usual and look forward to seeing your child at school. If your child will be absent, please follow the regular protocol by notifying the teacher and providing a written note to explain any illness.

We apologize for any inconvenience this change may cause and appreciate your flexibility and support.

If you are interested in providing a brief testimonial or shout about how much you love wiley and have your picture featured on our new website going Live in July, please complete the Shot out Form (linked above). Instead of teacher name type Wiley ES. If chosen I will reach out to you for a pic and your wonderful words and the photo of your choosing  will be posted on our website for the world to see.

Welcome Ms. Joshua

Please join us in warmly welcoming Ms. Madison Joshua to the Wiley family! Ms. Joshua will be joining Ms. Dull in kindergarten as an Instructional Assistant, and we are so excited to have her as part of our team.

Ms. Joshua jumped right in and got to work from day one. She brings a wonderful combination of passion, patience, and care for students, and we know our kindergarteners will benefit greatly from her dedication and enthusiasm. We are thrilled to have her at Wiley and look forward to the positive impact she will make in our school community!

Congratulations, Ms. Prosser and Ms. Strom! 🎉

Wake County is celebrating a record 517 educators who earned or renewed National Board Certification in December 2025. Of those, 161 educators earned certification and 356 renewed their certification—and we are incredibly proud to share that two of those outstanding educators are our very own Wiley staff members!

National Board Certification is the most respected professional certification available in education. It is designed to develop, recognize, and retain accomplished teachers while promoting continuous improvement in schools nationwide. This achievement reflects an extraordinary commitment to excellence in teaching and learning and brings tremendous benefits to students, schools, and the entire community.

Congratulations, Ms. Strom and Ms. Prosser! We are so proud to celebrate this incredible accomplishment with you. 💙

Wiley Named a Magnet School of Distinction

Wiley was recently named a Magnet School of Distinction! We were one of 54 magnet schools in our district recognized by Magnet Schools of America with a National Merit Award. Schools are also recognized for promoting diversity and building strong family and community partnerships that support their magnet theme. Thank you to our Magnet Coordinator and each of our  teachers, students, and families for making this achievement possible. 🎉

Grounds Volunteers Needed
Calling All High Schoolers: Help Wiley and Earn Service Hours

Do you have a high schooler or know one in need of service hours? Wiley PTA is launching a Junior Sustainability Committee this spring! We’re inviting high school students to help with grounds work at Wiley every weekend in April and early May, with two-hour volunteer shifts available. It’s a great way for older students to give back to their elementary roots—plus it helps keep our campus looking beautiful for our Wiley students!

Lost and Found

Be sure to check the latest items in Lost and Found. Students can look during lunch, and parents are welcome to stop by during school hours. And remember—labeled items are never donated.

Safety Reminder for Walker Families

Arnie, our crossing guard, will be away for the next week or two. During this time, please be sure to cross the street using the designated crosswalk to help keep everyone safe.

We also kindly ask families to avoid walking on the landscaping and stones near the bus loop. Some stones have been knocked out of place, and they play an important role in preventing mulch erosion.

Thank you for helping keep our school grounds safe and well maintained!
