Teacher Appreciation Shout Outs
Let’s celebrate our amazing teachers! 🎉
We invite all Wiley families to help us recognize our staff by submitting a message through our shout-out form. During Staff Appreciation Week, these messages will be shared with teachers and highlighted throughout the week. Our goal is for every staff member to receive at least one thoughtful note from a Wiley family.
Consider sharing a warm memory or a simple thank-you to let them know how much their hard work means to you. Please use the link above to submit your message—we appreciate your help in making our staff feel valued and celebrated! 💙
Panorama Survey
Help us make your child’s school experience as positive and beneficial as possible by giving honest, thoughtful responses to the questions in our family survey from April 6 - May 15. https://bit.ly/FamilySurveyWCPSS
Wiley Purposity
We’re excited to share that our school is now on Purposity, a non-profit app that connects our community with real, immediate needs right here at Wiley. Through the app, our social work team can post specific requests—like school supplies or essential household items—for students and families. Community members can then meet those needs in just a few clicks, often for around $30, making a direct and meaningful impact.
Download the Purposity app for free, search Wiley Magnet Elementary School, and tap Follow or visit here: https://purposity.com/organization/WileyInternationalStudiesMagnetElementarySchool
Questions about the 2026-27 budget?
The 2026-27 budget has been a hot topic as of recent. We have heard many questions. In an effort to keep communications open, we are trying to understand your questions about the impact to the Wiley budget. Please let us know and we can work with Mr. Avery to do our best to answer these. You may ask your questions here.
Special Education: A District Update
Families of students receiving Special Education services are invited to join us for Let’s Talk Special Education: A District Update on May 11 from 6:00–7:30 p.m. at Knightdale High School.
This informative session will provide updates on upcoming changes and what they may mean for students and services. Families will learn about the new regional model designed to strengthen staff support and enhance student services, as well as Bridge Builders, a new forum focused on fostering open communication between families and special education leadership.
Additional topics will include programming, school support, budget and allocations, and Family and Community Connections.
To help us plan, please take a moment to register for this event.
Science Night, Tuesday, May 19 5:30 -7pm
We are excited to announce Wiley's 2nd Annual Science Night! It will be held on May 19th from 5:30 - 7:00 pm. Huge thanks to the Wiley PTA for making this event possible!
In order for Science Night to be a success, we need volunteers to help run ten different activities on campus. Volunteers will sign up for one activity and lead students through that activity over the course of the evening. All supplies and instructions will be provided. Please note that volunteers will need to be at Wiley from 5:00 - 7:15 pm on the evening of the event to set up and clean up their activity.
Volunteer spots still open! If interested in volunteering, use this link to sign up. If you have any questions, please contact Hadley Cairns-Heath at hcairns-heath@wcpss.net.
Final Quarter
As we enter our final quarter, interim reports will be sent home on May 4. As we wrap up an incredible school year, we ask for your continued support in reinforcing routines and expectations at home. Please talk with your child about staying focused, engaged, and respectful, as this time of year is just as important—if not more—than when we began.
Together, we can help all students finish strong, remain safe, and stay committed to their learning through the final weeks of school. Thank you for your partnership in making this a successful end to the year!
Visit from Representative Tim Longest
Last week, Wiley had the honor of welcoming Tim Longest, a member of the North Carolina House of Representatives serving District 34 in Wake County. First elected in 2023 and re-elected in 2024, Representative Longest currently serves a term through January 2027.
During his visit, Representative Longest connected with our school community and shared his strong support for public education, as his father was a public school teacher. We were also excited to learn that his legislative assistant is a proud former Wiley student!
