EOG Retesting 

We are nearing the completion of End-of-Grade (EOG) testing and will continue with makeup testing next week. Families of students who are eligible to retake an EOG assessment or the Read to Achieve assessment have been contacted by their child's teacher.

Retesting provides students with an additional opportunity to demonstrate grade-level proficiency and showcase the learning they have achieved throughout the school year. If you have received a TalkingPoints message or letter regarding a retesting opportunity, please complete and return the required form by the stated deadline if you would like your child to participate.

Please note that forms not submitted by the deadline may result in your child missing the opportunity to retake the assessment and demonstrate proficiency.

Thank You for a Wonderful Year

Thursday (6/11/26) is our last day of school, and what an incredible year it has been! Thank you for your partnership and support throughout the year. Our students have worked hard, and our teachers and staff have been dedicated to helping every child learn and grow.

It is truly a pleasure to serve a community that values education and fosters such a love of learning. Each year, I am inspired by the commitment of our students, families, and staff, and I am impressed by the many ways our school community grows stronger and better each year.

Thank you for making this such a successful school year. We wish all of our families a safe, relaxing, and enjoyable summer break!

26-27 Wiley Elective Registration

If your child is currently in grades K–4, please return their 2026–2027 Elective Registration Form by Tuesday, June 9.

The brightly colored forms were originally sent home in Monday Folders on May 25. Replacement forms were provided to teachers and will be sent home with students no later than Monday, June 8.

If you are unsure whether your child's form has been submitted, please contact their homeroom teacher. Thank you for helping us ensure that all elective registration forms are returned before summer break!

5 Ways to Prepare Next Year

The grade-level teachers have collaborated to create the resource linked above to support your child's transition to the next grade level. Each grade level identified the essential skills and concepts that students should have a strong foundation in before beginning the next school year.

As you enjoy your summer, we encourage you to spend a few minutes each day reviewing and practicing these skills with your child. Consistent practice can help ensure that students return to school feeling confident, prepared, and ready to learn.

If your child is already performing well above grade level, consider exploring the skills and expectations from a higher grade level to provide an additional challenge and continue their academic growth.

Please note that this list is not intended to be an exhaustive collection of all grade-level skills. Rather, it represents the skills that teachers identified as the most important for a successful transition and serves as a guide to the minimum skills students should possess to begin the next school year successfully.

Family Input for Homeroom Assignment

If you believe there is specific information that should be considered when planning your child’s classroom placement for next year, please complete the form above. This form is not intended for requesting a specific teacher. Rather, it provides an opportunity for families to share information about the type of learning environment in which their child is most successful.

Our grade-level teams work diligently to create balanced classrooms that support the academic, social, and emotional needs of all students. Teachers are assigned based on their strengths and the unique needs of each class. Because classroom rosters are carefully developed, moving students based on personal preferences may significantly impact the balance and dynamics of the learning communities that have been thoughtfully created.

When developing class lists, teachers consider a variety of factors, including academic needs, learning styles, peer relationships, and social-emotional considerations. They carefully evaluate which student groupings are likely to be successful and which combinations may present challenges. This thoughtful process helps ensure that every child is placed in an environment where they can thrive and be successful.

Six Summer Books Can Make All the Difference!

Did you know that reading just six books over the summer can help prevent — and even reverse — the “summer slide”? To support your child’s learning, our teachers have created a list of suggested books for each upcoming grade level. Families are encouraged to choose from these recommendations or create their own reading list together.

When selecting books, remember that a “just right” book matches your child’s reading level while also connecting to their interests. Encourage your child to challenge themselves by exploring both fiction and nonfiction text, along with familiar favorites and new topics. Most importantly, keep reading all summer long — every page makes a difference!

Let's Talk Special Education June 23 @ Felton Grove H.S  

Families of students who receive Special Education services are encouraged to attend this upcoming information session. Topics will include the new SES regional support model, budget and allotment updates, and changes to CCK and Essentials programming.

The session will also introduce Bridge Builders, a new series of in-person meetings launching this fall that is designed to foster open communication and collaboration between families and Special Education leadership.

Please help spread the word to families who may be interested in attending. Families of students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) will receive direct invitations to participate.

Finishing the Year Strong!

We have just five days of school remaining, and there are still many exciting end-of-year activities and celebrations ahead for our students. Our teachers and grade-level teams have worked hard to create meaningful experiences and lasting memories that we hope every student will have the opportunity to enjoy.

During end-of-year celebrations and events, families are welcome to check their child out through the homeroom teacher if they choose; however, this is not required.

As excitement continues to build, we appreciate your support in reminding students that school expectations and behavior standards remain in place through the last day of school. Unsafe or significantly disruptive behavior may affect a student's ability to participate in special activities and celebrations. Our goal is for every student to finish the school year safe, engaged, and successful while enjoying all that these final days have to offer.

We’re excited to share that our school is now on Purposity, a non-profit app that connects our community with real, immediate needs right here at Wiley. Through the app, our social work team can post specific requests—like school supplies or essential household items—for students and families. Community members can then meet those needs in just a few clicks, often for around $30, making a direct and meaningful impact.

As the school year comes to a close, PTA is recruiting committee chairs for the 2026-27 school year. We especially need Family Engagement Committee members and a chair, a Cultural Arts Chair, and a Fall Festival Chair.

Join the Wiley Band!

All 3rd, 4th and 5th graders are eligible to join the Wiley Band for the 2026-27 school year! No prior music experience is needed.

 

Band practice takes place before school, 8-9 a.m. For Beginning Band, practices are on Mondays and Wednesdays. For

ontinuing Band, practices are on Tuesdays and Thursdays. 

 

You don’t need to own an instrument to sign up; families can select and rent their instruments instead. In September, we’ll hold a Band Interest Meeting at Wiley where you can learn more.

 

While the Wiley Band is supported through the PTA, tuition donations are required to cover our Band Director and instructional supplies. For the 2026-27 school year, the minimum tuition donation is $520.

Legacy Brick Update

We are excited to announce that the new bricks have been installed, and a brand-new column has begun, marking yet another bright chapter for our Wiley community!

 

Alongside all of the individual bricks donated, we once again secured enough donations to include the names of all graduating 5th graders. Your donations help us strengthen support for our teachers and staff while giving our graduating class a lasting symbol of their achievements and pride at Wiley.

The Cecilia Rawlins Fund wants to send a heartfelt thank you to everyone who made this spring so special. Thanks to the Wiley community and our friends, the Cecilia Rawlins Fund had two successful community and fundraising events this spring, raising more than $8,400! Jeff Whiteside’s famous BBQ sold out with rave reviews, and Elite Fire Taekwondo’s festival and kick-a-thon brought so much fun and energy. Both events were an incredible success – and because of you, the Cecilia Rawlins Fund is able to continue supporting Wiley families in meaningful ways.
