Hello AFES Families,
I hope you are all enjoying the warmer weather today. It sounds like it may disappear by tomorrow! Hopefully as we head into March, we will begin to see more consistent temperatures and signs of spring.
We have a really exciting week ahead!
Tuesday is a Teacher Workday.
Thursday is our Family Partnership Night.
And all week long, we will celebrate Read Across America Week!
📚 Family Partnership Night – Thursday at 5:30 PM
Family Partnership Night begins at 5:30 PM on Thursday evening. This event is designed primarily for adults; however, if childcare is a barrier, students are welcome to attend. Our goal is to strengthen the partnership between home and school so we can work together to help every student grow and succeed.
All certified staff members will be on campus leading presentations and sharing strategies to support learning both at home and at school. We hope you will join us!
🎓 Fifth Grade Families – Middle School Registration
It is hard to believe, but it is already time to begin thinking about middle school. Registration will begin on March 16.
Dr. Wooten and Ms. Mize will ensure that all students are supported through the registration process. Please review the information provided here: MS Registration Info.
We are excited to help our fifth graders prepare for this next step!
💻 District Device Filter Updates
Beginning March 2, new content filters will be in place on all student devices. These updates will affect devices both at school and at home.
Wake County Public School System is implementing these changes as part of an ongoing effort to strengthen online safety and ensure that digital resources align with instructional goals and age-appropriate expectations.
As a result, some websites or online activities that were previously accessible may now be limited. These updates are districtwide and will continue to be reviewed and adjusted as needed.
If a website required for instruction is blocked, or if a student encounters content that seems inappropriate, please contact the school so we can review the issue.
🚌 Bus Rider Information
Each year, the WCPSS Transportation Department conducts a mid-year manifest of all bus riders to ensure seats are filled appropriately.
If your child was absent on the day the manifest was conducted last week, their name was removed from the bus roster. Please log into Infinite Campus to verify that your child’s transportation information is accurate and that they are assigned to a bus route, if applicable.
Please note:
-
Students who do not ride the bus for 10 consecutive days will be removed from the roster.
-
Only students assigned to a specific bus may ride that bus.
-
Students may not be driven to a different bus stop to ride an unassigned bus.
Thank you for helping us keep transportation safe and organized.
