Hunter Elementary families,

First, know that all students are safe. To keep you informed, I wanted to let you know about an incident that briefly affected school operations this afternoon.

At about 1:10 p.m, police conducted a traffic stop on our campus. Out of an abundance of caution, we went into a Code Yellow community lockdown. 

In a community lockdown, all exterior doors of the school are locked and no one is allowed to enter or exit the building. In Code Yellow, students are permitted to move between classrooms and the school operates "business as usual" except for no outside activities. 

At about 1:20 p.m., police left campus, and we returned to Code Green.

We greatly appreciate the relationship we have with law enforcement and WCPSS Security in responding to such situations. They work closely with us to ensure the safety of our students every day.
