Registration Reminders for Rising Seniors and NC College Connect
Rising seniors with a weighted GPA above 2.8 will receive a letter from NC College Connect with a list of NC colleges they are directly admitted to without a traditional application. Eligible students should expect a letter in early October. To qualify for this program, all rising seniors must register for a fourth level math course for their senior year. This course must be completed in 2026–2027 to remain eligible for NC College Connect.
During the registration cycle, rising seniors should consider eligibility in this program when choosing classes. They need to meet all graduation requirements, take a 4th math credit, and consider completing 2 levels of a foreign language. You can read more about NC College Connect here.
AP Test Opt-Out procedure
Students who are taking AP classes in the Spring of 2026 have already registered for the AP exams that will occur in May 2026. Students are encouraged to take these exams in the hopes of earning college credit while in high school. This year, exams are paid for by the State of North Carolina for students who are enrolled in the class. Students who wish to cancel their exam registration must do so by March 6, 2026. Otherwise, students are required to take the exam, or they will be charged a $40 unused test fee by the College Board. For students who wish to opt out of testing, they must complete the Opt-Out form at this link, have it signed by parent(s) and teacher, and return to Student Services by March 6. Please contact Tara Gillespie, Dean of Students, with any questions.
