Otter Splash for the Weeks of August 3-16

It has been a busy and exciting time at Oak Grove! Last Monday, we welcomed our Track 4 students, and this week marks the start of full-time learning for our youngest Otters—our PreK and Kindergarten students.

At the end of July, we hosted Curriculum Night for our Tracks 1 & 2 families. Tracks 3 and 4—you are next! We look forward to welcoming you to Curriculum Night on Tuesday, August 19, with the first session starting at 5:30 PM, followed by a brief PTA Meeting and concluding with the second session starting at 6:20. We hope you will join us for the PTA Meeting. Our Otterly Awesome PTA has some incredible events planned for the coming year. We are especially excited for the BIG Splash, which will take place from August 6th to 14th for Tracks 1 and 2 and August 20th to 29th for Tracks 3 and 4!

Just a friendly reminder that Smartwatches and Cell Phones should be turned off during school hours. Parents can call the front office to relay a message to their child.

This year, we remain committed to recognizing the outstanding educators who have a positive impact on our students. We encourage you to use this Google Form to submit your Otter Staff Shoutouts. Otter Expectations - School-Wide

Over the past few weeks, our students have been learning and practicing our Otter Expectations in various locations throughout the school, including the cafeteria, hallways, playground, bathrooms, and on the buses. These expectations help ensure a safe, respectful, and positive environment for all of our students and staff. We encourage you to review these expectations with your child each day to reinforce what they are learning at school and help them make positive choices throughout their day. Thank you for your continued partnership in supporting our students’ growth and success!

Message from Child Nutrition Services

Curious about accessing breakfast/lunch menus, meal prices, the district's Angel fund, or more? Check out CNS's back-to-school presentation. As a reminder, the cost of breakfast and lunch increased to $2.00 (breakfast) and $3.75 (lunch). Families already receiving free or reduced lunch meal assistance must reapply each year. Attendance Matters

School success goes hand in hand with good attendance! Too many absences—excused or unexcused—can keep students from succeeding in school and in life. How many are too many? 10% of the school year—that’s 18 missed days or 2 days a month—can knock students off track.

Volunteers Needed

As always, we LOVE having volunteers in our building. We could not host events, fundraisers, and clubs without the help of parent volunteers! Would you like to share your passion and expertise with the school community? Now is the time to sign up! We need YOU!

We kindly request that all families complete the WCPSS volunteer application at wcpss.net/volunteers as soon as possible, rather than waiting until a field trip or event is scheduled. Adults who were approved to volunteer in the 2024-25 school year should use THIS LINK for directions on how to renew their volunteer status for the 2025-26 school year. Please renew your volunteer status during the renewal window, July 1-Oct. 1, which only takes 1–2 weeks for approval.

If you are completing the volunteer application for the first time or attempting to renew your volunteer status outside the designated window, please note that it may take up to six weeks for the school district to approve your application. Use THIS LINK to register for the first time.

Mark Your Calendars for Curriculum Night!

Please join us for Curriculum Night! Families will have the opportunity to join the child's classroom teacher and engage in math and literacy activities that your child will learn during the year.

⭐ PTA UPDATES⭐

🌊THE BIG SPLASH DIRECT DONATION FUNDRAISER IS ALMOST HERE!🌊

This year's PTA-sponsored annual fundraiser will once again be the DIRECT GIVE MODEL! This means 100% of your donations will come directly back to our school, students, and staff!!

Our goal this year is to raise $45,000. This will allow us to fully fund our PTA budget, and make campus improvements, including painting interior walls and building an outdoor learning space.

We can't wait to MAKE A BIG SPLASH for our Otters this year!!

The BIG SPLASH begins this Tuesday for Tracks 1 and 2! This event will require LOTS of helping hands! There are plenty of ways - big and small- you can get involved!
