We are excited to share that on Monday, October 13, we will host a number of special guests at a round table and press conference in our media center to highlight National School Lunch Week and Farm to School Month. As part of this event, I will join state legislators, Superintendent Robert P. Taylor, and other local and state leaders to discuss the importance of strong child nutrition programs in North Carolina, as well as efforts to incorporate more fresh, locally grown fruits and vegetables into school meals. The event will not have an impact on our schedule. I just wanted to share this in case you noticed some additional guests on campus or saw us highlighted in the news on Monday!
It’s hard to believe that we are almost halfway through the month of October! We invite you and your family to join us on Friday, October 17th, for our 3rd Annual Fall Festival. The event will be held in front of the school, in the carpool loop and bus loop, from 5:00 to 7:00. As a reminder, we will be accepting pumpkins on Monday, October 13th. We can’t wait to see all the decorated pumpkins! 🎃

Kindergarten Registration for the 2025–2026 school year begins October 15th! Families with children who will be 5 years old on or before August 31, 2025 are encouraged to register early. Please see the flyers for information on how to register and how to prepare your child for Kindergarten. We can’t wait to welcome our newest Otters to the Oak Grove family! 💚
From the Yearbook Club📔
The Yearbook Cover Contest is officially open! It is open to all students in grades 3-5. This year's theme is "Game On"! Remember that the works must be neat, in full color, and that you can mix different techniques. The works must be delivered to Mr. Carter by December 12.
October is Bullying Prevention Month
October is recognized as Bullying Prevention Month, serving as a powerful reminder of the importance of kindness. Each day, we have the opportunity to model and encourage respect, empathy, and compassion in our classrooms. On select days, we will hold Spirit Days. Please see the chart below.
National School Lunch Week
National School Lunch Week is a time to celebrate the importance of healthy, balanced meals for our students and to recognize the incredible work of our Child Nutrition team. Each day, our cafeteria staff prepares nutritious meals that fuel learning, support growth, and keep our students energized throughout the school day. Beyond nourishment, the cafeteria is also a place where students build friendships, practice social skills, and share joyful moments together. At Oak Grove, we are proud that our Child Nutrition professionals know our students by name, treat them like family, and consistently maintain a 100% health inspection rating—a true reflection of their dedication and excellence
🦃🥧Holiday Meal Celebration - From Child Nutrition Services🦃🥧
We are excited to invite you to join us for our Holiday Meal Celebration on Monday, November 17th! This special meal will be served in our school café, and we would love you to share this time with your child(ren).
Our holiday menu will include:
Oven Roasted Turkey Tenderloin
Cornbread Stuffing
Creamy Mashed Potatoes with Gravy
Green Beans
Carrot Soufflé
Dinner Roll
Apple Crisp

Important Information:

All students are already included in our planning — no need to pre-order for them.

If you would like to join your child for this meal, please complete and return THIS PRE-ORDER FORM by October 17, so we can prepare for your visit. Please let your child’ teacher know if you would like a paper copy sent home.

The pre-order form includes a fun coloring activity for students. Even if you are not pre-ordering meals, your child may return their colored artwork to be displayed in our café for everyone to enjoy!

💚Simply drop off your donations at the table in front of the office from Tuesday, October 14 - Thursday, October 16, or bring them to Fall Festival on October 17th!
