• Ms. Tiffany Scott, Principal

    Photo of Ms. ScottMs. Scott is a proud product of Wake County Public School System, having attended Bugg Magnet Elementary School as a student! She is excited to be returning to where it all began for her, to serve a community that she knows very well. After graduating from Southeast Raleigh Magnet High School, Ms. Scott earned a Bachelor’s degree from East Carolina University, and returned to Wake County to begin her career in education. After earning two master’s degrees, Ms. Scott transitioned into the role of school administrator, where she has served as both a high school and middle school administrator. This school year will be Ms. Scott's 16th year as an educator, and she has never been as excited as she is about joining the Bugg family this year! 

    Ms. Scott believes that ALL students are capable of achieving academic success; she is driven to help make that a reality. She is especially passionate about positively impacting the lives of student populations that are largely underrepresented and underserved. She is a firm believer in the power of relationships, and that one champion can change the trajectory of a student. Because of this belief, Ms. Scott aims to be a champion for every student that is within her reach. 

    Family partnership and engagement are important to Ms. Scott; she is looking forward to partnering with Bugg families and the community. This collaboration is vital in ensuring our staff is supported in their effort to engage our students in high quality instruction and maximize student learning.

    When not at school, Ms. Scott enjoys spending time with her family and watching basketball or football. Additionally, Ms. Scott is currently working on her dissertation as she pursues her doctorate from NC State University. 

    As the proud principal of Bugg Magnet Elementary School, Ms. Scott is committed to creating a safe & inclusive school environment where every student is welcome, challenged in their thinking, and empowered by their learning, while feeling seen and cared for. She is excited about making the school year ahead the best experience yet for all students!

  • Ms. Kimberly Barber, Assistant Principal 

    Barber

     Ms. Barber began her educational career by working in the Georgia Liberty County Public School System as a teacher assistant, a Music teacher, and an elementary teacher. Moving to Raleigh, North Carolina she has worked for the Wake County Public School System for 12 years as a 5th grade teacher, a literacy coach and now, the Assistant Principal at Bugg Magnet Elementary School. Ms. Barber received her bachelor’s degree from Armstrong Atlantic State University in Savannah, Georgia. She received her first master’s degree for Reading and Literacy from Walden University and her second master’s degree through the NC Principal Fellows Program in School Administration from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. She was nominated and received the Employee Excellence Award for the month of March 2019.

    Ms. Barber has two daughters, Joellyn Synclair, who is a graduate of The College of William and Mary and Kaitlyn Olivia, who is a graduate of The Ohio State University. The Barber family are HUGE Disney World fans. Ms. Barber loves the Dallas Cowboys and the UNC Tar Heels! She is a member of the praise team at Northpark Church in Raleigh, North Carolina. You can also find her in the halls of the school singing every now and again! Ms. Barber believes that ALL students can learn and grow through building meaningful relationships with students, staff, parents, and the community. She believes that attitude reflects leadership and as a proud leader of her school, she motivates and supports the students so that they will leave with the necessary skills to be powerful individuals.
