GT Magnet Pathway 

The Gifted and Talented (GT) Pathway includes some of the district's most popular and well-established programs. It is rooted in the belief that every student has gifts and talents to be valued and nurtured. Students in the GT pathway explore a wide variety of content through core subjects and an extensive menu of elective courses that develop student strengths and interests. Students have the opportunity to customize their academic programs by choosing elective courses according to their academic needs and interests. For example, students who aim to explore their gifts within a particular core content area such as English language arts, math, or science, are able to choose electives directly related to those content areas.  Students who have a desire to explore their gifts and talents within the arts can choose from a variety of electives within the visual, performing, and musical arts categories. 

Advanced Studies and STEM

At Zebulon GT Magnet Middle School: Center for Advanced Studies and STEM, we embed the design thinking process throughout all core and elective classes.  Students see, act, and engage to solve current pressing issues throughout their community.  Students in our architectural design elective course collaborate to redesign physcial spaces throughout our school that further promote student success.  They work together with local businesses and architects to create plans that are presented to key stake holders within our school.  Students in ELA, math, science and social studies classes engage in learning experiences and excursions that deepen authentic connections to their content standards.  For example, ELA and Social Studies students may take a virtual reality field trip to a destination to figure out how to solve a character or historic figures problem.  In math and science, students may use content based formulas to improve community spaces and implement plans through collaborative efforts with community partners.  The application of advanced studies and STEM offer ways for all students to engage in higher order thinking and make real world connections to the content learned. This addition to our magnet theme equips students with a creative mindset and approach to solving problems.
