Ms. Taylor Evans - Assistant Principal (K-2)

Ms. Evans began her educational journey at Winston-Salem State University where she obtained her Bachelor of Science in Special Education. She also joined her lifelong sisterhood, the Omega Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. while attending WSSU.

Following her undergraduate degree, Ms. Evans served as an Occupational Course of Study special education teacher and women’s volleyball coach at Parkland Magnet High School in Winston-Salem, NC. She later transitioned to a Lead Behavior Support Teacher role at Enloe Magnet High School in Raleigh, NC where she also served as the Special Education Department Chair.

Ms. Evans later attended North Carolina State University and obtained her Masters of School Administration. Prior to graduating, Ms. Evans accepted an Assistant Principal position at Walnut Creek Elementary School where she currently primarily serves grades K-2, oversees the Special Education department, and oversees the compliance of the School Improvement Plan. Outside of Walnut Creek, Ms. Evans enjoys reading, listening to music, spending time with family and her fur baby, Charlie.

Mr. Curtis Cotton III - Assistant Principal (3-5)

Mr. Curtis Cotton III is honored to begin his third year as one of the assistant principals at Walnut Creek Elementary School.  Mr. Cotton believes every child can achieve and exceed the expectation as a result of an appropriate environment, healthy relationships, and consistency.  He began his career in Winston-Salem Forsyth County Schools as a middle school band teacher and currently has 14 years of educating experience, including 6 years of school administration at both the elementary and secondary levels.  Since his arrival, Mr. Cotton has enjoyed connecting with families and collaborating with school staff and district leaders to foster school wide improvements.  

Mr. Cotton is an active member of the Wake County Division of Principals and Assistant Principals and the NC Association of Educators.  He is currently pursuing his Doctorate in Educational Leadership and seeks to work with beginning teachers and beginning assistant principals to strengthen their practices and leadership.  Beyond the scope of the school, Mr. Cotton loves spending time with his family, working on home improvement projects, and participating in community service.
