Mr. Jacob Michel

I am proud to serve as the 7th Grade Assistant Principal at River Bend Middle School. I have been a part of the RBMS community for the past five years, beginning my journey here in 2020 as a social studies teacher. Before joining RBMS, I taught social studies for three years in Charlotte, North Carolina. After four years in the RBMS classroom, I served as an administrative intern during the 2024–25 school year before stepping into my current role.

I earned my bachelor’s degree from Temple University and my Master of Arts in Teaching from Mercer University in 2017. I am currently completing my school administration degree at the University of North Carolina Wilmington.

I am originally from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and I bring my Philly pride to North Carolina, cheering passionately for the Philadelphia Eagles and 76ers. Outside of school, I enjoy watching sports, playing basketball, running outdoors, and spending quality time with my family.

Mr. Jermel Harrell

I am honored to serve as the Assistant Principal for 6th Grade at River Bend Middle and to continue my journey in education, which spans over 12 years in both special education and school administration. Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of working with students from Kindergarten through graduation, and I remain committed to ensuring that all students are supported academically, socially, and emotionally.
 
My professional passions include mentoring students, supporting and empowering school staff, and engaging families as active partners in the educational process. I believe that when schools, families, and communities work together, we create the strongest foundation for student success.
 
I have been happily married to my wife, Shirnetta, for 10 years, and we are the proud parents of two sons—Judah (6), a first grader, and Jireh (2). Outside of school, I enjoy spending Saturdays watching college football, attending morning worship on Sundays, and cheering on the Carolina Panthers. I also enjoy listening to personal growth podcasts and audiobooks, watching action movies, and staying active through weight training.
 
It is a privilege to serve this school community, and I look forward to partnering with students, families, and staff to continue building an environment where every student can thrive.
