Dr. Kristen McCollum

Principal

I would like to share a little about my journey that has led me to this great opportunity of serving as the principal of Olds Elementary. Originally from Huntersville, NC, I received my undergraduate degree in Elementary Education from Winston-Salem State University. I earned a Masters in School Administration in 2018 and then a Doctorate in Educational Administration and Supervision in 2023, both from NC State University. I began my teaching career in New Orleans, LA, where I taught 4th, 5th, and 6th grade. I served as the 6th grade assistant principal at West Cary Middle School for three and a half years and transitioned to Millbrook Environmental Connections Magnet Elementary School as the assistant principal.

Some of the things that bring me joy are spending time with my family, including my parents, my sister, and a large extended family. I also love to travel and experience new places and cultures. One of my favorite trips was spending a week in Egypt last year. In the coming weeks and months, I look forward to getting to know each of you; hearing about the things that bring you joy and learning about your professional journey.
