Hello!  My name is Gretchen Thompson and I have been teaching kindergarten or first grade since 2001.  My BA is in Arts and Architecture from Penn State University, I then went on to get my MA in Education at Temple University.  When I moved to North Carolina I earned my National Board Certification.  I am originally from PA but have called Fuquay Varina home since 2006.  I have been blessed to be a part of the FVES family since 2013.  I have 2 boys, both of them have been fortunate enough to attend FVES!  In my spare time I love to enjoy my family, take pictures, garden, hike, visit our family cabin in Canada, and travel. My favorite part about being a teacher is watching young children get excited about their accomplishments!  My favorite subject to teach is science!  Children are naturally curious about the world so I love to use science to get kids excited and then weave it in through reading, writing, math, and social studies.  I am looking forward to a great year and getting to meet lots of new friends.
