• WCPSS Policies

    • The BYOD program is not a requirement.  All students will be provided needed access to devices, networks, or the Internet when learning requirements demand it.
    • Principals, teachers, and/or staff are not liable for any BYOD device that is stolen or damaged.  Responsibility to keep the device secure rests with the individual owner.  Students will take full responsibility for their devices.  Therefore we recommend using protective skins or cases for easy identification and protection.
    • Parents/Guardians must fill out the WCPSS Technology and Digital Resource Use Consent Form as well as a BYOD Contract and return it to your child's teacher before sending in a device.
    • Personal technology should not be left on campus before or after school hours.
    • Devices will not be accepted at the front office if forgotten at home.
    • Students must immediately comply with a teacher's request to shut down devices or close the screen.
    • Devices will not be used during assessments unless directed by school staff.
    • Students are expected to respect the privacy of others.  Students are not permitted to take or post photographs/videos of any person on campus to public or social networking sites for personal reasons.
    • Devices at school are to be used for educational purposes only.  If inappropriate material appears on the screen, students will notify the teacher immediately.  Students will stay on teacher-directed sites.
    • Devices cannot be used during transition times, in the hallways, or at any other non-instructional time unless directed by school staff.
    • Devices cannot be used at school for personal texting or personal email.
    • Printing from personal devices will not be permitted at school.
    • Students are not allowed to use any student's device other than their own.
    • Administration may collect and examine any device if the situation warrants.
    • Students are expected to follow the Wake County Public School System Student Acceptable Use of Electronic Resources according to Board Policy 6446.
    • Violations may result in the loss of technology privileges at school, as well as other disciplinary action.
    • Devices must be connected to WAKE-BYOD WiFi network at all times.  Using any other network while at school is not permitted.
    • Devices will be in silent mode on school campus and while riding on a school bus.
