Mission:
Baileywick Elementary School will provide a relevant and engaging education and will grow students as collaborative, creative, effective communicators and critical thinkers.Vision:
Baileywick is a place of joyful and purposeful learning. We honor and develop each child’s individual strengths in an environment that encourages risk taking and creativity. Our community’s collective diversity of thought, experience and background comprise the strength of our school.
Our Beliefs:
-
The social and emotional curriculum is as important as the academic curriculum.
-
Every child is uniquely capable and deserves to be challenged and engaged in learning each day.
-
We value a diverse school community that is inviting, respectful, inclusive, flexible, and supportive.
-
How children learn is as important as what they learn.
-
Great cognitive growth occurs through social interaction.
-
To be successful academically and socially, children need to learn a set of social and emotional skills: cooperation, assertiveness, responsibility, empathy, and self-control.
-
Knowing the children we teach and appreciating their diversity—individually, culturally, and developmentally—is as important as knowing the content we teach.
-
Knowing the families of the children we teach is as important as knowing the children we teach.
-
How we, the adults at school, work together is as important as our individual competence: Lasting change begins with the adult community at our school and collaboration with the community at large.
