• Home of the Carver Cubs where we use our P.R.I.D.E. to be successful!

Carver is a PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention Support) school. PBIS is a process for creating safer and more effective schools. The process focuses on improving a school’s ability to teach and support positive behavior for all students. PBIS includes school-wide procedures and processes intended for all students and all staff in all settings.  It is an approach to creating a safe and productive learning environment where teachers can teach and all students can learn.

Carver uses the acronym “PRIDE” to show the five traits we are looking for in all of our school settings. PRIDE stands for:

Practice SafetyResponsibility is KeyIntelligent ChoicesDemonstrate Self Control Earn and give respect

For each area in our school there is a PRIDE Matrix that provides specific expectations of positive actions students may display for successful behavior. There is a matrix for the hallway, cafeteria, restroom, assemblies, playground, and carpool/bus arrival and dismissal. Teachers begin the year by explicitly teaching the expectations from the matrix to students and we frequently revisit and reenforce these expectations.
