Food Assistance

- Families receive approximately one week of groceries & may pick up once every 30 days. Clothing for children four years & under and diapers & formula may also be available.
- No referral needed - families can walk in, register, and receive food the same day!

- Wake County has partnered with Advance Community Health, Urban Ministries of Wake County, Wake Med, and Duke Health Primary Care providers to provide twice per month produce box deliveries to eligible clients. To qualify, you must be an existing client of a participating clinics listed above and meet the following qualifications:
- At least 18 years old, live in Wake County, are food or nutrition insecure, AND have one of the following conditions: Prediabetes or Diabetes, Hypertension, Overweight/Obesity, or Hyperlipidemia

The Low Income Energy Assistance Program (LIEAP) - federally funded program that provides a one-time vendor payment to help eligible households pay their heating bills. Eligibility is based on income and savings. The criteria are listed on the site.

As of January 12, 2026, the Public Health Centralized Call Center is live and serving the Wake County community. A dedicated team of 10 professionals responds to client inquiries and links them to the services offered by Public Health.With just one number, clients can access not only the clinics but also a variety of other services, such as:

Low-Cost Internet
- Apollo Net
- Families can receive unlimited internet (with up to 40 devices connected) for just $35 a month with no contract, no data limits, no equipment charges and a promise to keep the price the same for as long as service continues.
- To be eligible for Apollo Net, families must meet ONE of the criteria below:
- Participate in a government assistance program (WIC, SNAP, SSD, Medicaid, Etc.)
- Have a member of my household enrolled in any school, college, university, or educational program.

Clothing
Note in the Pocket - SCORE staff must make the referral, so please contact your student's counselor for more information about the referral process. Information needed from the parent/guardian includes:- Name/age/school (if student) - Note in the Pocket will help clothe all family members, not just students
- Sizes for all types of clothing (as specific as possible) - shirt, shorts, pants (waist/length), coats, undergarments, shoes/socks, etc.
- Special requests (i.e. four-year old boy loves Iron Man, 13-year-old girl really just needs a warm coat, the parent needs black pants for work, etc.)

Substance Abuse
**Parents/guardians are also encouraged to contact their insurance provider to obtain a list of approved/in-network mental health providers and substance abuse counselors. -
Mental Health Needs & Crisis Resources
- Hazel Health - WCPSS has partnered with Hazel Health to provide free teletherapy to WCPSS students. Contact your student's counselor for more information about the referral process.
- Wake County Crisis Services:
- 988 is the mental health emergency services number. If you or anyone you know is in crisis and needs immediate support, dial 988
- For a medical or life-threatening emergency, dial 911 and request a “CIT Officer.” These first responders have gone through Crisis Intervention Training to assist with mental health concerns, substance use, and individuals with an intellectual or developmental disability.

Mobile Crisis - 24/7 assessment and triage for crisis response. A mental health professional will triage over the phone and, if needed, will go into the community to evaluate an individual for safety and provide crisis stabilization services.

Parenting Resources
- Diaper Train - provides diapers to clients every four weeks. SCORE staff must make a referral, so contact your student's counselor for more information about the referral process.

- Fathers Forever - 12-week training course aimed at teaching fathers the importance of their role in the family unit
