•  Principal's Message

Welcome to Willow Springs Elementary School!  Our school has an outstanding reputation for high academic standards, paired with teachers who care deeply about the individual needs of their students. I am proud to be part of such a wonderful program, where we are one big family, and students come first. Willow Springs which has a proud tradition of over 75 years serving generations of families,  is filled with enthusiastic students excited to learn and work together, supportive parents/guardians interested in their children's education, and a dedicated professional staff committed to providing the students with a quality education.

At Willow Springs, we are a reading community.  Literacy is stressed at every level, and it is our objective that every child becomes an avid reader.  To that end, we work hard at helping students make good book choices and devote increasing amounts of time to daily independent reading at all grade levels.  We ask that parents make daily reading a priority at home, as well, in order to grow vocabulary and comprehension skills.  We are focused on developing a Growth Mindset in every child, so they connect hard work and effort to success.  We work hard to create an environment where students understand the value of learning from their mistakes, and feel free to take risks to increase learning opportunities.  Explaining their thinking is a valuable habit that we encourage and work to cultivate, as it cements new concepts.   Technology is an integral part of our day, and teachers integrate a variety of technologies into instruction ensuring that students gather, organize, and share information in a variety of ways.  As we value our students, we seek to ensure that learning is serious business, while remaining fun and engaging.

Family matters at Willow Springs! Because parents play a vital role in the success of their child’s educational success, we encourage parents to be a part of our daily activities. While we have a very active PTA and many opportunities to help out in the classroom, Media Center, or in our garden, we know that not everyone can volunteer at school on a regular basis.  We encourage you to sign up to be a mystery reader one day, come and have lunch with your child inside (or out at our special parent picnic tables,) or attend a classroom event to show your child that what he or she does in school matters to you.  Also, taking just a few minutes in the evening to read to your child, talk with your child about school, or simply see that your child is organized for the next school day can have great benefits.

We welcome you to our Willow Springs family and look forward to getting to know you and your child.
