Transportation Overview

Bus Transportation

Many Timber Drive Elementary School students ride the bus to and from school each day.  

We encourage parents to visit https://www.wcpss.net/parents/transportation/ for information regarding bus routes, requesting a stop change, locating a bus stop, and for customer support.

Carpool

Parents who choose to drive their child to and from school should note the following:

Morning carpool drop off begins at 8:45AM.  We encourage all parents to drop their students off no later than 9:00AM.  Please stay in the right hand lane of the carpool loop and wait at one of the cones at the front of the building until a safety patrol student opens the door for your child.  For your child's safety, please refrain from parking in the parking lot and asking your child to walk across the carpool traffic to enter the building.  We ask that all parents drive slowly when in carpool and watch for pedestrians.  Students who arrive after 9:15AM must be checked in by a parent and will receive a tardy slip for admission to class.

Afternoon carpool begins at 3:45PM and is generally complete by 4:15PM.  Please display the Timber Drive carpool tag on the rear view mirror of your vehicle.  Your students will enter the vehicle from the passenger side of the car and will be assisted by a safety patrol student.  Please do not pull around cars that are loading passengers.  The line will move forward quickly if everyone follows procedures.  Parents are reminded to not drive around the carpool line once it has formed and to stay in the lane in which directed.

Walkers

Students who live within our walk zone will meet their parents at the bus loop at dismissal.

YMCA

Parents may drop off YMCA participants in the bus loop prior to 8:35AM.  After 8:35AM, all students should be dropped off in the carpool lane through normal morning carpool procedures. Before school YMCA students are dismissed to their classrooms at 8:45AM.  After school YMCA participants are dismissed from their classroom at the end of the day.  Parents may pick up after school YMCA students in the bus loop after 4:30PM.  Parents who are interested in before and after school care are encouraged to visit the YMCA of the Triangle website.

Daycares

Many Garner area daycares provide transportation service to and from Timber Drive Elementary. Please inquire with your daycare on whether it transports students to school or picks up from Timber Drive in the afternoon. Daycare vans pick up students in the bus loop.  Students are dismissed to the bus loop as their van arrives at the school.
