To the Parents of Leesville Road Elementary School students:

Because we want to keep you informed, I would like you to be aware of a rumor that a student is threatening to bring a weapon to school.

Please know that the incident has been and is being thoroughly investigated by the school, WCPSS Security, and Raleigh Police and we have determined that all students are safe.  

After investigating, it was found that the rumor was just that - a rumor. It is unsubstantiated. There is no credible threat to Leesville Road High School, Middle School, or Elementary School.

I want to assure you that we take student safety extremely seriously. Starting a rumor that incites fear is a serious offense that could result in disciplinary action and criminal charges.

I would like to take this opportunity to ask you to talk to your children about not starting or sharing rumors that perpetuate fear among other students. Instead, if your child has information to share, they should contact an administrator or other school staff directly.
