Meet Our Principal

Mrs. Johnson is originally from Suitland, Maryland.  She moved to North Carolina to attend North Carolina Central University and has lived in the Raleigh area since.  In 2008, Mrs. Johnson began her education career in the Wake County Public School System as an English teacher.  She served as a high school Assistant Principal for 6 years before becoming the proud principal of Mt. Vernon Middle School in 2020.  Mrs. Johnson is married, and together they have two sons, Daniel and Avery.  She enjoys spending time with her family and friends, going to the beach, and binge watching her favorite shows on Netflix.  Mrs. Johnson believes that all children can learn.  She is passionate about working with young people and helping them to succeed and grow.  Mrs. Johnson values building positive relationships and equitable practices for the success of all students.
