Dear Swift Creek Families,

 

I hope you are all having a fantastic summer. Although it seems as though we just said our goodbyes, we will soon begin a very exciting year 91! I am writing to you today with important information regarding the 2023-2024 school year.

 

This is the year of the Big Move. As a reminder, we will begin the school year at our historic 5601 Tryon Road location. In mid-January, we will transition over to the swing space at 2600 Timber Drive in Garner. We are saying goodbye to the buildings that have held so many fond memories, and setting up a temporary home down the road. Because of this, our theme for this year is “Remember Who We Are.” We are Cougars, with our strong values, dedicated staff members, caring families, and a supportive community, Swift Creek Elementary will continue to be a learning community where all students will grow and succeed.

 

One thing that will remain the same is our fantastic PTA. Whether you are returning to Swift Creek or this year begins your relationship with us, I encourage you to become involved in school activities and with our outstanding PTA. We want you to become a member for just $10.

 

By August 18, class lists will be posted on the front doors. You will find students listed by first name and last initial. Thursday, August 24 is Meet the Family Night from 5 PM until 6:30 PM. In addition to meeting your teacher, you will also be able to pick up school kits, sign up for free/reduced lunch, get a car tag, update records (and medication), verify transportation, buy spirit wear, and join the PTA. These stations will be set up both inside and outside of the building. Be sure to join your friends and neighbors on the playground for popsicles after you’ve checked in with your child’s teacher from 6PM to 7PM on August 24th.

 

PTA is also hosting our last Swift Creek Play Date at Swift Creek Park on August 20th from 2PM to 4PM.

 

The first day of school for first through fifth graders is Monday, August 28. Kindergartners will come to Swift Creek that week by appointment for screening assessments. The first full day for Kindergarteners will be Tuesday, September 5.

 

Our school day begins at 9:15 am. The earliest time for student arrival is 8:45 am. Students will be dismissed at 3:45 pm. It is the parents’ responsibility to get their children to school on time. Thank you for doing your part to ensure that students are in class and ready to learn on time every day. Be sure to check out After School Care this year at Swift Creek offered through the YMCA.
