Throughout my K-12 learning years, I was blessed with amazing teachers and principals who invested in my learning and personal growth. I completed my undergraduate degree at North Carolina State in Middle Grades Education (English and Social Studies). After teaching for seven years, and completing my Master’s degree at NCSU along the way, I served as an assistant principal for nine years in both high school and elementary school settings (Green Hope High, Sanderson High, Mills Park Elementary).
I began my career with WCPSS in 2000 as a middle school teacher. After several years in the classroom, I moved into the role of Assistant Principal in both elementary and secondary settings. In 2016, I became the principal of Laurel Park Elementary School and enjoyed leading the Penguins for seven years. In May 2023, I was named Principal of Apex Middle School.
When I am not at school, I enjoy spending time with my family and close friends. My husband, Rodney, and I have two wonderful children, Barron (15) and Bennett (12) along with our sweet dog, Bailey. I am a proud soccer and dance mom, spending many weekends at games and competitions. Our family proudly supports the N. C. State Wolfpack, but we make room for all sports fans in our home. I am also a champion of the fine arts and look forward to enjoying many Apex Middle School performances this year! Go Cougars!

My name is Arvis Bridges-Epps, and I am thrilled to be a part of the leadership team at Apex Middle School as the PROUD 6th -Grade Assistant Principal. I come with a wealth of skills and experiences that I am eager to share as we learn and grow together.
My journey has been enriched by degrees from North Carolina Central University and DUKE University, but my most profound knowledge has been shaped through practice, patience, and a deep commitment to education. With over 17 years of teaching experience, I have cultivated a strong foundation in organizational skills from my time in both education and corporate America.
As a teacher, I have had the privilege of coaching sports like football, track, and basketball, fostering teamwork and perseverance in my students. My passion for instruction drives me to ensure that every student who walks through our doors receives the best education possible. I firmly believe that every student can learn when provided with the right tools and support.
When you see me, know that your fearless Cougar leader is here, ready to serve you and the Cougar families with dedication and heart. Together, we will create "A community of belonging," where every student thrives.
‘Expect great things and great things will happen’ – A. Bridges-Epps

I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, a Master’s degree in School Administration, and a Doctoral degree in Curriculum Instruction. My career has been dedicated to fostering academic excellence and cultivating inclusive learning environments.
