The Alice K. Burrows Parent Teacher Resource Center (PTRC) at Project Enlightenment offers a:

• Library for Parents and Teachers
• Children's Library
• Production Area
• Community Information Area

The Parent Teacher Resource Center at Project Enlightenment is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 am-5:00 pm. The PTRC offers a variety of resources, including a library of books for adults and children, and a Production Area (adults only) to create materials to use with young children. Anyone that has or works with young children birth through kindergarten age can find resources that include, but is not all-inclusive, on topics such as child development, parenting styles, discipline, self-regulation, social skills, sensory sensitivities, getting ready for kindergarten, diversity and inclusion materials as well as resources for teachers on classroom environment, behavior, and activity planning. Library

The lending library includes over 8,000 books and other materials that address development, education, parenting and other related issues specific to children birth through kindergarten. Additionally, the PTRC provides resources on sensitive subjects such as divorce, new baby, grief, diversity, inclusion, etc. We are a specialized early learning library that focuses on social emotional learning from birth through kindergarten. 

To check books out:

1. Visit the PTRC or view our catalog of books at destiny.wcpss.net. 
2. Browse the catalog to choose books of interest to you.
3. Email ptrc@wcpss.net with the titles of the books/items you wish to request for check-out. 
4. Once your books are ready, you will receive notification that they are ready for pick-up. 
5. Books must be returned to Project Enlightenment. Our book drop is available 24/7 and is located at the back of the building. 

Production Area

The Production Area contains construction paper and poster board, a laminator, a bookbinding machine, and a large collection of Ellison Die-Cuts in addition to various other materials. Please remember to call ahead to ensure that the area is open and has not been reserved.  919-694-8990.
