What is Developmental Screening?
A developmental screening is a brief, family-friendly process that helps parents get answers to questions and concerns about their child's overall development and helps them access resources, services, and strategies that are available to support their child.
What are possible outcomes from a Developmental Screening?
- Handouts
- Discussion of Project Enlightenment and Wake County Public School System (WCPSS) resources that may be appropriate based on data gathered during the screening
- Forwarding the child's information to WCPSS Child Find Office for consideration of further evaluation if concerns are present
Outcomes that cannot be obtained from a Developmental Screening:
- Diagnosis
- Qualification for direct interventions or services
- Placement in an NC Pre-K or WCPSS classroom
Developmental Screenings are free!
Screenings are available to all families that live in Wake County with young children ages three, four or five and not yet eligible for kindergarten.
