Career Academy
Career Academies are personalized small learning communities within Knightdale High comprised of a small group of students and teachers for four years. Academy classes are usually blocked back-to-back in the daily schedule, and students attend them as a group. Students are able to complete academy requirements within the regular school day, with the exception of work internships. Career Academies are open for rising Freshmen. Applications are accepted on a rolling admissions basis.
Students who are admitted to the Career Academy will begin taking a sophomore-level career/academic cohort class to show the applications of academics in real-world situations. After investigating their career interests and completing an entry-level career academy course, students agree to commit to the Career Academy for the remainder of their academic career at Knightdale High. This commitment will culminate in an internship during the student's senior year at a local business to see how all of their studies apply in a “real world” situation.
In compliance with federal law, Wake County Public School System administers all education programs, employment activities, and admissions without discrimination against any person on the basis of gender, race, color, religion, national origin, age or disability.
