Title I
Title I is a federally funded program that is one component of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) of 2015. The WCPSS Title I Department provides financial assistance and program support to schools with high numbers of children from low-income families.
All Title I eligible schools in WCPSS operate under the schoolwide model. Title I funds may be used, along with other school funding sources, to provide resources and instructional support to help all children meet challenging academic standards.
Title I/ Blended pre-kindergarten classes are designed to deliver developmentally appropriate experiences for eligible 4-year-old children to ensure successful entry into kindergarten. The program emphasizes a child-centered environment that promotes learning through exploration and discovery.
A Parent's Right To Know
Parents have a right to know:
- Whether all teachers at the school are highly qualified. Ask your child’s principal about how to access this information.
- How your child’s school is performing. The North Carolina School Report card is typically released in November or December of each school year. Access School Report Cards from NCDPI.
We believe it is important to provide parents with logical and detailed information about their schools. To help accomplish that goal, progress reports for each school in the Wake County Public School System are available to view.
