The Academy of Information Technology (AOIT) at Apex High School is a four-year program where students create with technology, build real-world skills, and graduate with experiences that set them apart.

    A Different High School Experience

The Academy of Information Technology (AOIT) is a small learning community within Apex High School designed to give students a more connected and meaningful high school experience. Students move through high school together with a cohort of peers and a team of specially trained teachers who collaborate to design interdisciplinary projects that make learning relevant and engaging.

Instead of learning in isolation, AOIT students work on real challenges, build projects, and explore how technology connects to the world around them.

    Create. Build. Launch.

In AOIT, students don't just use technology — they create with it.

    Students learn to:

    Build apps and websites
    Produce video and digital media
    Create podcasts and digital content
    Analyze data and technology trends
    Design graphics and digital experiences

Through project-based learning and collaborative challenges, students develop critical thinking, communication, and teamwork skills that prepare them for college, careers, and the digital economy.

    The AOIT Experience

AOIT is designed as a four-year journey that gradually builds skills, confidence, and real-world experience.

Freshman Year: Students explore technology, begin learning design thinking, and work on collaborative projects that introduce them to digital creation and problem-solving.

Sophomore & Junior Years: Students deepen their technical and creative skills through larger projects, digital media production, app and web development, and real-world technology challenges.

Senior Year: Students complete a real-world internship with an industry partner, applying the skills they have developed throughout the program.

    Learning Beyond the Classroom

AOIT students build future-ready skills and social capital through work-based learning experiences. Throughout high school, students participate in opportunities such as job shadowing, industry tours, career and college fairs, career-focused workshops, and networking events with industry professionals.

These experiences prepare students for the program’s culminating senior internship, where they gain hands-on experience in a professional setting.

    Recognized for Excellence

AOIT is proud to be recognized as a Distinguished Academy within the NAF network, a national organization dedicated to preparing students to be Future Ready through career-connected learning.

    What Makes AOIT Different

AOIT is designed for students who want more than just going through the motions of high school. Instead of simply completing assignments, students work on real projects, collaborate with peers, and create work they are proud of.

Students experience high school differently in AOIT:

You learn alongside the same community of peers over four years
You work on projects that connect learning to real-world challenges
You create digital media, apps, and technology projects
You connect with industry professionals and mentors
You graduate with real experience before leaving high school

AOIT students don't just prepare for the future — they start building it now.
