Single Gender
We serve our students in an all-male environment on our Thompson campus during grades 6-10 and then reintegrate them into a co-ed environment on our Wake Technical Community College (Northern Scott) Campus during grades 11-13. We believe that the single gender atmosphere allows us to cater to the unique learning needs of young men and to engage them at a high level.
Early College
Through our Early College program, students not only attain their high school diploma but also have the opportunity to graduate with 2 years of college credits by extending their education to the 13th year (also known as the super senior year) at WYMLA. This translates to significant financial savings for students, equating to a total of $7,934.50 saved on average in-state public university tuition, $45,916 saved on average out-of-state college tuition, and $5,280 saved on Wake Tech Community College tuition over the course of two years. These savings are solely based on tuition expenses and do not encompass additional college costs such as accommodation, textbooks, personal expenses, and transportation. For further details, please refer to our Early College page.
Leadership Academy
As a part of our school culture, we seek to instill the five practices of exemplary leadership, as outlined by James Kouzes and Barry Posner in their book "The Leadership Challenge". These practices are:
- Modeling the Way
- Inspiring a Shared Vision
- Challenging the Process
- Enabling Others to Act
- Encouraging the Heart
