Ms. Katy Heben

About: Proud Washington Wizard Teacher and Parent! Having my kids flourish here has been an absolute treat, and helping ALL students illuminate their gifts and talents is a big part of the Washington Magic ✨ I am passionate about equity, teaching, being a lifelong learner, and creating a community where all students are seen. I earned my teaching degree in Elementary Education with an English as a Second Language Endorsement from Florida Southern College in 2009. When I am not teaching, I am spending time with my husband, my two kids, my dog, and my two cats! You can find me hiking, going to Hockey games (Go Lightning and Go Canes!), or doing jigsaw puzzles.

About: I have always wanted to be a teacher and am honored to be part of a profession I love so dearly. I enjoy working with students, teachers, parents and the broader community. I have taught 1st grade, 4th grade and K-2 technology, as well as served as an Instructional Facilitator. I am now an Intervention Teacher! I spent four years teaching and living overseas in South Korea. It forever changed my life and how I view education. I enjoy traveling, reading, playing and watching sports, and spending time with family and friends, especially my husband Scott and daughter Mallory.
