AIG at the Square
As always, the Moore Square staff is greatly looking forward to working with you and your student. We will be working very hard this year to ensure that our teachers provide rigorous and challenging instruction for all students that will allow them to reach their maximum learning potential.
Students who are identified by WCPSS as Academically and/or Intellectually Gifted (AIG) receive differentiated curriculum and instruction opportunities in core classes, within the general education setting. Our AIG Specialist consults with grade level teams to design learning activities that target our AIG population, such as cluster and flexible skills grouping, differentiated units, and collaborative teaching. These opportunities are often extended to all students, as we intentionally promote inclusion and equity in everything we offer to our students at Moore Square. Services vary depending on course offerings and student performance. All schools that offer the AIG basics theme offer it in conjunction with the GT magnet theme.
"The purpose of Wake County School's Academically and Intellectually Gifted Program is to provide a challenging and rigorous educational program for students who show or have potential of a high-performance level in comparison to peers of the same age group, experience and environment. Gifted education in Wake County is provided for students who consistently perform above grade level and demonstrate need for additional rigorous academic differentiation in kindergarten through grade twelve."
