Carpool Procedures

The Holly Springs Elementary Staff will need your support in closely following the carpool procedures outlined below.  With all of us working together the carpool area will be SAFE and EFFICIENT for all students and parents.  REMEMBER, SAFETY FIRST!

Morning Arrival Procedures

Arrival is between 8:50 and 9:15 a.m.. This allows students ample time to reach class and prepare for the day's work.  Students should be in their classroom and ready for the day by 9:20 a.m. Students that enter their classroom after 9:15 a.m. will be counted tardy.

STUDENTS CAN NOT BE DROPPED OFF IN THE PARKING LOT OR THE BUS LOOP: CROSSING THE STREET POSES A SAFETY CONCERN FOR BOTH PEDESTRIANS AND DRIVERS.

When dropping off students in the carpool lane, please make sure your child IS READY to exit the car independently when you come to a complete stop.  Please help them learn how to unbuckle and open the car door. Several HSES staff members will be present along the carpool line to ensure student safety.

PLEASE REMAIN IN THE CARPOOL LINE UNTIL THE CAR IN FRONT OF YOU LEAVES; DO NOT DRIVE AROUND CARS THAT ARE UNLOADING.  ALSO, PLEASE REFRAIN FROM USING YOUR CELL PHONES DURING CARPOOL.

Afternoon Dismissal Procedures

All students must have an assigned carpool number.  Please help your child learn his/her carpool number.  This will help immensely in getting your child to you in a timely manner.  Please display the number in the front window, hanging from the rear view mirror of your car until you have picked up your carpooler(s).  You will need to leave it there so the person at the road and the staff members at the front of the line, will be able to call out the number.

Please discuss some basic rules for carpooling with your child.  Your assistance in communicating expectations would be greatly appreciated.

• Students will remain in the classroom until their number is shown on the television 
• They will be given a colored strip with the row number and a letter (A,B,C or D)
• They will then proceed to the gym and walk to the cone with their color and go to the row number behind that cone. Please remind them to wait quietly and not play during this time.
• When it is time for the row to proceed outside they will be escorted by a staff member and walk to the color of their slip and wait for their car.
• Please remind them to stay behind the red line till the car comes to a complete stop and there is no playing or chasing people while waiting.
• Once the car is stopped they will open the door and get in.
