Ms. Amanda Morton
Ms. Morton is excited and honored to continue to serve the Hortons Creek Elementary Community as Assistant Principal. She is an NC Teaching Fellow and an NC Principal Fellow where she received a Bachelor's degree in Middle Grades Science Education and a Masters Degree in School Administration (K-12) from NC State University. Ms. Morton is joining us after completing her year-long internship at Washington GT Magnet Elementary School. She previously taught 7th-grade science at Leesville Road Middle School and worked with the Before/After Care program at Leesville Road Elementary School. Hortons Creek Elementary is a place where you can really feel that #otherhawksmatter and she is grateful for the opportunity to build meaningful relationships and connections with all those in the Hawk community. Ms. Morton is passionate about creating spaces where all students and staff feel a sense of belonging, where students can and feel motivated to take academic risks to learn and grow as scholars, and where all can reach their fullest potential. As an advocate for continuous learning, she works to promote equitable practices where all students have access and the opportunity to develop the needed skills and tools to become life-long learners. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, traveling, cooking, going to the beach, and spending quality time with family and friends. Ms. Morton currently resides in Cary, NC with her husband and their pets (3 dogs and 1 kitten). Ms. Morton is thrilled to be joining Dr. Chambers and Mr. West on the administrative team at Hortons Creek Elementary School to support and build relationships with ALL of the amazing members of the Hawk community. She looks forward to getting to know and serve the wonderful families, students, and staff of the Hawk community this year as we learn and grow together as a family.
