• Library Policies

My name is Jane Miller, and I am the librarian at Fuquay-Varina Elementary.  Our library policies are designed to keep your children reading!  If you have any questions or would like to volunteer, please stop by or email me at jmiller4@wcpss.net

3 Books –All children at FVES will be allowed to check out 3 books for personal reading at a time.  If a teacher has a special project, your child may check out additional books.

Email reminders- You will receive a weekly email letting you know which titles your child has checked out from the library.  This will help you talk to your child about the books he/she has out, and help him remember to return them when he is finished.

No overdue penalties-Keep the book as long as your child needs to finish it.  This will only limit the number of books your child is able to check out.  Ex. If your child returns 2 and keeps 1, he will be able to check out 2 more.  At any given time your child may have 3 books checked out of the library.

No lost/damaged book fines- I will not charge money for lost or damaged books.  I appreciate your help in keeping books as safe as possible, but I know that accidents happen.  I want our children to continue to love reading even if they have made a mistake.  Please email me if you have lost or damaged a book so I can correct it on your child's account.

    How can you help?

Read every night- Read to your child, listen to your child read, or have them read independently every day.  Reading every day is the number 1 way for kids to be successful in school.

Help your child return books in a timely manner- This will keep your child reading, and will allow other children to enjoy the books, too.

Visit our library-Visit in the morning from 8:45-9:15 to help your child select books.  Parents can have their own accounts to check out even more books for the whole family!

Volunteer-If you have some time to help children find books or shelve, please stop by.  Come early for carpool?  Park the car, and come volunteer during that wait.  You must register to volunteer each year.  Stop by to register if you have not already done so.

Contact me-Have a question about email reminders, volunteering, or books?  Call (919-557-2566), email jmiller4@wcpss.net, or stop by between 8:45-9:15.  I look forward to working with this great community to encourage a love of reading!
