Mr. Michael Sutton
Greetings, Owls! I am proud to learn from and with Oakview’s incredible staff as assistant principal!
I am originally from Lexington, Kentucky, but grew up in the mountains of Asheville, North Carolina. Several family members and friends still reside in each city, making for an obvious road trip destination whenever possible. I graduated from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2004 with an undergraduate degree in Spanish and history, and earned my teaching certification and Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) degree from Western Carolina University in 2011. My teaching career began in northern Virginia as a middle school math teacher. Four years later, my wife and I relocated to the Triangle area, where I continued teaching, this time at the high school level. The next step of my educational journey led me to return to UNC for my Master of School Administration (MSA) degree. After completing my administrative internship at Oakview during the 2018-2019 school year, I was fortunate to become a full-time Owl as assistant principal.
My time away from school is spent with my wife and our two-year-old son. I also enjoy basketball, reading, and traveling to new places (even if it means just a couple of towns away).
I am thankful for the opportunity to work with the students, staff, and parents of Oakview, and look forward to getting to know the school community!
