    PTA After School Chess Club

The Hunter Chess Club is excited to be returning to in-person chess this year! Starting October 5th, every Wednesday afternoon, we will be meeting in the Hunter cafeteria after school until 4:45 PM. The chess club is a great way to have fun, learn, and play lots of chess! Playing chess can improve academic skills such as analysis, creativity, and reasoning and can enhance life skills such as perseverance, resilience, and assertiveness. Our chess club is sponsored by the Hunter PTA, led by a team of enthusiastic parent volunteers, and is open to all Hunter students. Instructions will be provided for new players!

Interested families are asked to register via this form: https://bit.ly/HunterChess22 . This year, membership will be "pay what you can, with a suggested contribution of $20 per student to help cover a ChessKid subscription, USCF membership, and some of the club’s operating costs. Payments can be made through MemberHub (https://hunter.memberhub.com/store/items/129817) or by personal check made out to the Hunter PTA, with "Chess Club" indicated on the note line. Parents of chess club members are asked to commit to volunteering at least once per school year per child. Parent volunteers are needed to help run the Wednesday afternoon club meetings - no knowledge of chess is required! Parent volunteer signup sheets will be provided throughout the year.

Please contact Coach Mark, mark_indermaur@yahoo.com, and Jascha, jswisher@gmail.com with any questions. We're looking forward to seeing you!

    PTA After School Art Club

Art Club meets EVERY THURSDAY after school, enabling students to spend extra time in the art room exploring their creativity and using their imagination while making awesome art! Students may work on one of the provided activities, or create their own art projects with the available supplies.
This year we will partner with students from Art Outreach at Raleigh Charter High School to create a more enhanced art studio experience. These high school artists will be mentors to our students and will actively be involved in introducing new artistic projects and materials to inspire both individual and collaborative art.
    Art
Art Club is open to any student in Kindergarten through 5th grade. Our club has continuously grown throughout the years, making it necessary for us to spread out the club over four days per month to accommodate all interested students. This year, the Art Club is offered on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday each month.  PLEASE NOTE: Students will only attend Art Club ONE DAY a month. Each of the Art Clubs is offered the same supplies and activities each month, so the only difference between the clubs is that you choose the day that is most convenient for you.

Please check all of the dates carefully before signing up for an Art Club day - once a club has reached capacity, that day will be closed.  It is also extremely difficult to change your Art Club day during the school year due to the large amount of students on each day of Art Club – so please check the dates for the best fit to your schedule.
