    PTA Thank You!

Our staff would like to extend a heartfelt thank-you to the PTA Hospitality Committee for the wonderful dinner that fueled us before Math Night. We truly appreciate your generosity and support!

    Carpool Reminders

Please help keep our carpool safe and efficient by following these guidelines:

-Drop off students on the school’s street side only. If you must drop off on the opposite side, please walk your child safely across the street to the entrance.

-No left turns onto Glenwood Avenue during carpool hours. RPD may issue tickets when monitoring traffic, and left turns significantly delay the carpool lane.

-Please arrive between 8:00–8:25 a.m. so students are ready to begin learning at 8:30 a.m.

-Students arriving after 8:25 a.m. must be signed in at the front office.

    Service Project: Supply Drive

The Service Committee is hosting a supply drive for the Wake County Women’s Shelter from Feb. 1–12. Families can review the list of needed items at wcwc.org/donate-supplies. Donation boxes will be located outside the library. Thank you for helping us give back to our community!

    Student Birthday Reminder

Parents may send in a treat for the entire class to recognize a child’s birthday.

-Treats must be store-bought only per Wake County policy (pizza lunches are not encouraged).

-Please communicate plans with the classroom teacher in advance.

-Teachers will facilitate birthday treats during designated snack time.

-School staff are not responsible for reading food labels.

-Party favors or goodie bags may be distributed.

-Teachers may not distribute invitations to private parties unless all classmates are invited.

Student School Assignments for 2026-2027 School Year

Families with an active parent portal account will access their student assignment notifications for the next school year via Infinite Campus. Those who do have an active account, a paper copy will be sent home today in your child’s folder. This is also a reminder that if you do not have an active account, please activate it as soon as possible, as you may be missing important WCPSS communication

If you wish to make changes to your child’s school placement for the next school year, please note that the magnet application closes January 22, 2026, and the transfer application period is March 2-March 13, 2026. If you are satisfied with your 2026-2027 school assignment, no action is required on your part.

    Illness

As a reminder, if your child has a fever of 100.4, they should remain at home until fever-free for 24 hours without fever-reducing medication. If your child experiences nausea, vomiting, and/or diarrhea, your child should remain at home until free of symptoms for 12 hours. Thank you!

    Absences

When your child is absent, a parent/guardian must send in a written note or email explaining the student's absence. Verbal notification or phone calls are not accepted. Notes must be sent to school within 2 days after the student returns to school, and a parent must sign these notes. The absence will be marked unexcused until a note is received. According to Wake County School Board Policy 4400, an absence is excused if:

    A. An illness or injury that makes the student physically unable to attend school.
