Student School Assignments for 2026-2027 School Year

Families with an active parent portal account will access their student assignment notifications for the next school year via Infinite Campus. Those who do have an active account, a paper copy will be sent home today in your child’s folder. This is also a reminder that if you do not have an active account, please activate it as soon as possible, as you may be missing important WCPSS communication

If you wish to make changes to your child’s school placement for the next school year, please note that the magnet application closes January 22, 2026, and the transfer application period is March 2-March 13, 2026. If you are satisfied with your 2026-2027 school assignment, no action is required on your part.

    Illness

As a reminder, if your child has a fever of 100.4, they should remain at home until fever-free for 24 hours without fever-reducing medication. If your child experiences nausea, vomiting, and/or diarrhea, your child should remain at home until free of symptoms for 12 hours. Thank you!

    Absences

When your child is absent, a parent/guardian must send in a written note or email explaining the student's absence. Verbal notification or phone calls are not accepted. Notes must be sent to school within 2 days after the student returns to school, and a parent must sign these notes. The absence will be marked unexcused until a note is received. According to Wake County School Board Policy 4400, an absence is excused if:

    A. An illness or injury that makes the student physically unable to attend school.

    B. Isolation ordered by the State Board of Health

    C. Death in the family.

    D. Medical, dental, or other appointment with a health care provider

    E. Court when a student is under subpoena.

    F. Religious observance

    G. Participation in a valid educational opportunity, such as travel with prior

approval, as documented on the “Request for Excused Absence for

    Educational Reasons.” (Form 1710)
