    2022-2023 JUNIORS:

All Juniors are required to take the ACT in school. There is no registration required for this testing, and there is no cost to students. The Make-up ACT will be administered at Wake Forest High School on Thursday, March 23, 2023, in room 1709. The ACT will be taken online. Juniors should bring their charged WCPSS issued Chromebooks to school that day. More information will be shared in school closer to test date.

There is no Essay Test with school-based testing.

The online ACT is taken in TestNav on school issued Chromebooks. This app is already on the WCPSS issued Chromebooks. Students will complete a tutorial in school prior to test day, but there are additional practice tests available on the app; students may choose to complete any/all of the practice tests available.  This link gives more information about TestNav and the practice tests.

The following information was emailed to juniors on 3/1/23:

    Dear Junior,

The ACT is a state required assessment for all juniors in North Carolina. Most Juniors* will be taking the ACT on March 8. Attached is a booklet called Taking the ACT that you should review prior to testing. Here are a few things you should know about the upcoming test:
    • You will be taking the test online using your WCPSS issued Chromebook or a classroom laptop; please bring your charged Chromebook with you on March 8 (along with the cord just in case)
    • You may use an ACT approved calculator on the test, but all problems can be solved without a calculator; there is an online calculator built into the test (see page 2 of the attached booklet for more details)
    • Please bring a photo ID with you on test day if you have one; this will make check in easier
    • Note that all juniors who test will be assigned a special lunch period at the conclusion of the test session; you will not be eating on A or B lunch that day
    • After you complete the test, you must set up a My ACT Account in order for you to access your scores. Directions will be given on test day, but please be sure to follow the directions as we cannot create the accounts or access them for you later.
    • There is a form letter from ACT attached; it includes the college codes you will need when designating colleges to receive your scores for free; please review this list (along with all information in this email) with your parent(s)/guardian(s) before test day.
    • You should have completed a tutorial in second period on Tuesday; you can access additional practice tests on TestNav the same way you accessed the tutorial; if you were absent, please ask any teacher to show you how to access this. If you do not have a school issued device, TestNav is available for a free download (click this link for information on TestNav)
    • Testing Room assignments will be shared by your classroom teachers; if they have not yet told you, please ask any of your teachers for that information.
    • Please be present and on time that day as this is a state mandated test.
*Some students are taking an alternate ACT test; case managers will be notifying those students of their testing day and location.
