My name is Katie Whitehurst and I am very excited to be in 3rd grade this year! I grew up in Durham, NC and graduated from UNC-CH with a degree in Elementary Education many years ago. I taught Kindergarten for seven years before taking several years off to be home with my children. During that time, I was a preschool teacher and a volunteer at a grief support group. I returned to teaching in first grade and this year I will be teaching third grade.

I have three children at home, so our weeks are packed with games, crafts, bike rides, and family outings. When I’m not at school, I love watching movies, taking walks in my neighborhood, and reading! I know that we are going to have a wonderful year learning and growing together!
