Jonathan Hegedus, Principal
Mr. Hegedus spent the first 10 years of his educational career teaching 4th and 5th grade in both North Carolina and Virginia. He obtained his administrative degree from the Piedmont Triad Leadership Academy in partnership with UNC Greensboro. His first two years as Assistant Principal were at Kernersville Elementary in Winston-Salem Forsyth County Schools.
In 2015, Mr. Hegedus joined the Wake County Public School System as assistant principal at Barwell Road Elementary. He was named principal of Adams Elementary in 2018 and is honored to serve as the founding principal of Woods Creek Elementary.
Mr. Hegedus comes from a large family, many of whom live in Wake County. He enjoys traveling and running and is a huge CANIAC!

Lauren Patterson, Assistant Principal
Ms. Patterson is beyond excited to be a part of the Woods Creek Elementary School community and serve as Assistant Principal. She was born and raised in Cary, North Carolina and is a proud WCPSS native! She completed her undergraduate at East Carolina University. After college, she decided to return home to Cary to start her teaching career serving the community that shaped her.
Ms. Patterson has devoted her life to never stop learning. In 2011, she received her Masters in Special Education and in 2020, she obtained her Masters in Administration with and add on in Curriculum and Instruction.
Over the past 13 years in public education, she has had the opportunity to teach special education at various grade levels, including both Elementary and Middle School, as well as serve as the Intervention Coordinator. Each of these roles has provided Ms. Patterson with multiple perspectives on how to best serve students, staff and families, but most importantly, has provided Ms. Patterson with the extreme pleasure of showing how passionate she is about the work that she does each and every day!
When Ms. Patterson is not working, she enjoys spending time traveling and attending sporting events with her friends and family!
