Credit by Demonstrated Mastery (CDM)

  • As a part of the Credit by Demonstrated Mastery (CDM) process, middle school students can earn high school credit for specified courses without spending a set number of hours taking the course in a classroom.

To this end, under the state’s Credit by Demonstrated Mastery (CDM) option, uniquely qualified students may “test out” or bypass a course if they have already mastered the content. It is important to note that this option is not designed to replace existing accelerated pathways, such as the Academically and Intellectually Gifted (AIG) program at WCPSS.

To apply to participate in the CDM process, complete the CDM Application and Agreement. Applications must be submitted to our school-based CDM Coordinator, Mrs. Julie Stern (jstern@wcpss.net). The application window for CDM will open on October 14 and will close on December 20, 2024.
