A message from WCPSS Financial Aid Advisors: We want to make families aware that potential changes to the Federal Direct Parent PLUS Loan program are currently being discussed at the federal level and could take effect as early as July 1, 2026. Under current guidelines, parents may borrow up to the full cost of attendance minus any scholarships and other financial aid received. However, proposed legislation may place new limits on borrowing and repayment options beginning July 1, 2026. The new borrowing limits would not apply for 3 years for parent loans prior to July 1, 2026. At this time, these changes have not been finalized, and details may evolve. Robert N. Styres Scholarship: $5k per year renewable up to $20k!!!
This local scholarship goes to 2 WCPSS grads who are going to a 2 or 4 year college. While academic achievement is important, it is not necessarily for the top students; rather, they look for students with good to average grades who are hard workers & who have overcome some adversity along the way (this is very important in the committee’s decision).
How to Apply: Go here to find the Nomination Form that you must complete. Write/Type who your recommender will be on the form (top or bottom). Write the letter/personal statement detailing your desire & need for the scholarship along with your plans for the future & include it with the completed form to Ms. Bunn by Wednesday, March 25th at 2pm (in person or via email). Only one Nomination per school will be accepted for consideration by the Rotary Club so we want to ensure that we have a candidate competing, although no one is guaranteed to move on in the process.
SECU Scholarship--application due to Ms. Bunn by Friday, February 27th. Seniors should view their email (search "SECU Scholarship") from Ms. Bunn for instructions/details/links.
