In our ID-Severe Level II classroom, we support students using the North Carolina Extended Content Standards (3-5), paired with the Unique Learning System to provide a comprehensive, sensory-based approach to instruction. This framework allows our students to make real-world connections through engaging, differentiated lessons that support growth and foster independence. Each student works toward their individual IEP goals with the collaboration of our dedicated related service providers, which include: Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, Sensory Efficiency, Audiology, and Orientation & Mobility. We create a dynamic, inclusive environment with enriching weekly activities and community-building experiences, including: learning kitchen sessions that promote functional life skills, inclusion events with peer buddies, participation in the Special Olympics, and running our school’s GLOW Market, where students learn real-world vocational and social skills. Our classroom also enjoys in-house field trips throughout the year, bringing interactive learning experiences directly to our students. We also hold quarterly Parent Involvement Days, which are designed to strengthen the home-school connection. Our goal is to provide a nurturing, engaging, and supportive learning environment where every student can thrive and grow in their own unique way.
