Ms. Kaelyn Oakes

About Me:

My name is Kaelyn Oakes, and I am proud to say I have lived in North Carolina my whole life! My family has moved around quite a bit, which has given me the chance to live across the Triangle, as well as in Elizabeth City and Wilmington. I attended Wake County schools for both elementary and middle school, and it feels so special to now be teaching in the same district where I grew up.

I graduated from NC State University (Go Pack!) with a degree in Elementary Education and a concentration in STEM. I also minored in Teaching English as a Foreign Language.

I am one of four daughters, which means I have three built-in best friends! My family loves spending time together going to the beach, enjoying the lake, hosting our annual oyster-shucking dinner, and watching movies. In my own time, I enjoy reading a variety of novels and caring for my many houseplants—a hobby that has become a true obsession over the years. My favorite is my beautiful Calathea, which brings me so much joy.

This is my fourth year teaching fourth grade, all at Creech Road Elementary. This year, I am excited to serve as one of the reading and social studies teachers. My goal is to spark a love for reading in my students, help them grow in their skills, and build their confidence as readers. Let’s go Fourth Grade!
