• School Profile

Heritage Middle operates on a multi-track year-round calendar. Students at the year-round schools are divided into four groups, called tracks, with each track having its own calendar. In a year-round school, the number of required school days is divided into nine-week quarters with a three-week break at the end of each quarter. Think of the year in twelve-week cycles that include nine weeks of instruction and three weeks of vacation. That vacation period varies based upon the track.

Schedules are staggered so that, at any given time, three tracks are in school and one is on break.  These staggered schedules make it possible for the school to serve a larger student population. Currently, we do not have a Track 2 for 6th and 7th grades.

Year-round schools provide a more continuous learning process. Students and teachers find that the more frequent breaks require less review than is typical after a summer vacation.  Likewise, the more frequent breaks help students and staff stay more energized and focused.

  • Principal's Message

Welcome to Heritage Middle School – Home of the Patriots!

    principal
We are a multi-track year-round school serving approximately 1,000 students in the Wake Forest area. Our mission statement focuses on the 4C's: Communication, Collaboration, Critical Thinking, and Creativity. These four words drive what we do with and for our students each day. The primary focus of our current School improvement Plan is to use tiered instruction to provide each student with the tools he/she needs to succeed.

We pride ourselves on establishing and building strong relationships with our students and their families. Our school’s PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention Support) program guides our practice when management decisions are made. The program's focus is on recognizing the positive actions of our students and making sure that expectations are clearly taught and reinforced. This helps provide a clear structure so that our students can be their best selves and focus their attention on learning.

I invite you to explore our website to find out more about who we are and how we make a positive difference in the lives of students each day. If you have questions, please contact our main office at 919-562-6204.
